Food Safety Certification Exams

HOME > FOOD SAFETY CERTIFICATION EXAMS

ORS Interactive administers the ServSafe Food Manager’s Examination (a nationally accredited, computerized food safety certification exam) every day, Monday-Saturday (see hours, below). The cost for the exam is $99 ($50 for the test, and $49 proctoring free). Any subsequent exam after the first is $35 (provided the re-test is within six months of the first attempt, and both are taken at our office). Advance reservations are not required; candidates may test on a walk-in basis (with a valid, government-issued photo ID) at any time during the normal testing hours listed below. Results will be generated immediately upon completion of the test, and your e-certificate will be available the same day (at the end of testing hours).
On days when Food Safety Classes are held (typically Monday, Thursday, and Saturday), testing capacity may be reduced in the late afternoon. Please call ahead!

Testing Preparation:

It is not necessary to complete a Food Safety Class prior to taking a Food Safety Certification Exam, but many people find this helpful in preparing for the exam. ORS Interactive offers Public and Private / On-Site Classroom Training in Preparation for Nationally Accredited Food Safety Certification Exams in English and Spanish (see the upcoming scheduled training dates, or call us at (703) 533-7600). Additionally, ORS Interactive offers a food safety textbook for independent study. This textbook is available in English and Spanish (as well as Chinese or Korean, upon request) and is on sale at the ORS Interactive office for $55. Contact our office for complete details. Information about other providers of Food Safety Exams and Food Safety Classes in the Northern Virginia Region is also available from ORS Interactive, Inc. and through local Health Departments.

YOU WILL NEED ACCESS TO AN E-MAIL ADDRESS IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR THE EXAM.

Please bring a cell phone with an email account you have access to, as a verification code will be sent to you before the exam can begin.

Available Languages:

The test is offered via computer in English, Spanish, and Chinese, with immediately available results. Paper tests (with results available in 2-3 weeks) are also available upon request in French Canadian, Japanese, and Korean. Please call us for further language options at (703) 533-7600.

Limited Food Managers Exams:

1)To acquire a LIMITED Northern Virginia Certified Food Manager (NVCFM) Card, it is necessary to take and pass the Limited Food Manager’s Exam. This can be done only at ORS Interactive, and no other tests will be accepted. You will need to bring a valid, government-issued photo ID, and $15 for the test (cash, credit card, and company check accepted).

2)Once you have passed the Limited Food Manager’s Exam (with a score of 70% or higher) ORS Interactive will take your photo and issue your Limited NVCFM card for $30 (cash, credit card, and company check accepted).
